Provincetown painter, William von der Heydt, finds solace in the dunes of Cape Cod's National Seashore. Trekking out in all weather to paint en plein air, Von der Heydt paints the dunes not in perfect representation but in high-key abstraction, choosing to render the feeling of our fragile landscape in a beautiful display of color.
Originally William von der Heydt washed ashore in Provincetown after studying at the Art Students League in New York and visiting Cape Cod to study under Henry Hensche at the Cape Cod School of Art.
Join us for a retrospective of William von der Heydt's work and enjoy a glass of champagne to celebrate this very special Provincetown artist.
Opening reception 6-8pm at The Captain's Daughters.
